Terms of use and privacy

Using MKE Vice

MKE Vice is a free browser game made for entertainment. Street View pictures and map data come from Google and can be out of date. Never play while driving. The places, history and crime lore on the cards are there for interest and fun; they can contain mistakes and are not advice or an official record.

Accounts

You only need an account to save your progress or to place an ad. You must be 13 or older to make an account, and 18 or older and allowed to act for the business to place an ad. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what is done with your account. We may switch off or remove an account that is used to abuse the game, other players or advertisers. You can delete your account at any time from your player page.

Privacy

We keep your player name, your email address, a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password and your game progress. If you place an ad we also keep the business and contact details you enter. Your email is used only to run your account and your ads, for example to tell you an ad was approved. We do not sell it or pass it on. The game keeps daily totals of how often each location's card is opened or clicked; these are totals only and are not tied to you. Your sign-in is remembered in your browser on your own device. The Google Maps services the game uses are covered by Google's own terms and privacy policy.

Businesses, coupons and links

The businesses shown in the game are independent. Being on the map is not an endorsement by them or by us. Coupons and offers come from the advertiser, who is responsible for honoring them. Links lead to websites we do not control.

Tours

Free rides in the game are virtual. Real tours are run and sold by the tour companies listed; bookings, prices and refunds are between you and them.

Music, text and pictures

The game's music, text and design may not be copied or reused without permission. Photo credits are shown with the photos. Names and trademarks belong to their owners.

No warranty

The game is provided as it is, with no promise that it will always be available or free of mistakes. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for losses that come from using the game, its listings, coupons or links.

Changes and questions

We may update these terms; carrying on using the game after a change means you accept it. For questions, sign in and use the Help button on your player page.

XP and live cameras

XP is for fun only

Street cred (XP) is a score inside the MKE Vice game. It is for entertainment only. XP has no cash value. It is not money, a prize, a reward or property, and it cannot be bought, sold, traded, transferred, cashed out or redeemed for anything outside the game. XP is earned only by playing: visiting places, answering quizzes, finding secrets and the daily bonus. We do not sell XP.

Spending XP on a live camera view lowers the XP you have left to spend. It does not lower your rank, which is based on all the XP you have earned. XP that has been spent is not given back. We may change how XP is earned and spent, correct XP totals, or reset XP at any time, and XP may be lost if an account is closed or the game is changed or ended.

Live cameras

The live cameras are public traffic cameras run by a public agency (Camera: WisDOT / 511 Wisconsin). MKE Vice is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by that agency. A camera can be offline, delayed, moved or removed at any time, and we do not promise that any camera will be available. XP is only taken once the picture is playing.

The cameras are shown for entertainment. Do not rely on them for travel, safety or emergency decisions. In an emergency call 911. For road conditions use the official source, such as 511 Wisconsin.

Advertising terms

Ads are reviewed before they go live and may be declined. An ad starts when payment is received. Payments are not refunded once an ad is live. We may remove an ad that is misleading, unlawful or not suitable for the game.

Video commercial terms

Your commercial must be 30 seconds or less, an MP4 (H.264) or WebM file, and no larger than 25 MB. You must own it or have permission to use everything in it: footage, music, voices, logos and any people shown. No adult, hateful, violent, misleading or unlawful content, and nothing aimed at children. We review every video before it goes live and may decline or remove one at any time. By uploading it you give MKE Vice permission to store the video and show it to players on your location's card for as long as your ad runs. The video comes off the card when the ad ends. You are responsible for any claim that arises from your video.
