cPanelOps is a small site of practical hosting guides. It is written for people who look after their own websites on cPanel hosting and would rather fix a problem in ten minutes than open a support ticket and wait.
Who we are
The site is run by the team behind FirstResponderHost, a cPanel hosting service for scanner streams, crime blogs and emergency-alert sites, and behind a network of police-scanner and public-safety pages. We are based in Wisconsin, USA.
Running those sites means dealing with the same things our readers do: a post that suddenly sends thousands of visitors, an audio player that slows a page to a crawl, a file that returns 403 for no obvious reason, a backup that has to work the first time. The guides are our notes on those jobs, written up so someone else can follow them.
What you will find here
- Guides that each cover one task from start to finish, with a way to check the result. They are grouped by topic: basics, troubleshooting, security, performance, reliability, workflow and email.
- Tools we build and host, such as MKE Vice, a free Milwaukee Street View exploring game.
How the guides are written
We write for the site owner, not the system administrator. Steps use the names shown on cPanel's own screens. Commands are kept to the few that are worth typing, and each is explained. Where hosts differ, the guide says so and tells you what to ask your host.
cPanel changes between versions and hosts customize it, so a step can drift out of date. If you find one, tell us and we will correct it. Each guide shows the date it was last updated.
Advertising
The site is free to read and is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Advertisers do not choose, see or influence what we write. Details of how advertising cookies work, and how to opt out, are in our Privacy Policy.
